We are very excited to have embarked on this project at last! It has been many months in the planning stages but a few weeks ago we we able to make our first hospital visit to Mambilima Mission Hospital. Sadly their airstrip was out of action, so we had to fly to Mansa airport instead and then drive the tattered and potholed road for 1.5hrs to reach the mission.
It was wonderful to spend time with the dedicated team at the hospital and school and we had a very, very busy day assessing all the equipment at the hospital that needed work – from laundry machines to scanners, theatre lights to wiring and electric beds to water pumps. We are now compiling a report to prioritise what is repairable and what needs to be replaced and we’ll be creating a project page on our website to raise the funds for this. If you would like to get involved in any way, please get in touch on hello@missiongeeks.org – we would love to hear from you!
Our sincere thanks to volunteer geeks Phil and Ian who gave their time to assist with the assessment and repair of the hospital equipment on this trip.
