Hospital Equipment Project

07 July 2023 / / In Progress
/ ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Medical equipment plays a crucial role in providing quality healthcare services to patients. In remote rural areas of Africa, mission hospitals serve as a lifeline for many individuals and families who lack access to adequate medical care.

However, these hospitals often struggle with limited resources and inadequate funding, which can result in broken medical and support equipment going un-repaired for extended periods.

The need for this project is critical. Many rural hospitals in Africa lack access to the resources and technical expertise necessary to repair broken equipment both inside the hospital and out. As a result, essential equipment such as X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, pumps and laundry equipment remain out of service, preventing doctors and nurses from providing life-saving medical care to their patients.

/ ABOUT OUR PROJECT

With the launch of this ongoing long-term project, Mission Geeks is committed to trying to tackle this problem by taking teams of biomedical engineers, mechanics, electricians and other professionals to assess and repair broken medical and ancillary equipment in remote rural mission hospitals. The project aims to improve the quality of healthcare services by ensuring existing medical equipment is functioning correctly and is readily available when needed.

With your support, we aim to provide the resources and technical expertise necessary to repair or replace broken equipment in remote rural mission hospitals. By doing so, we will improve the quality of healthcare services and make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of individuals and families across Africa.

/ FUNDING REQUIRED

While all the work for this project is done by our volunteer geeks who donate their professional time, we must raise the funds required to cover the logistics of getting our volunteers to and from each of these remote rural hospitals to assess the situation for each one.

This $5,000 budget cover the initial assessment visit to 5 rural hospitals. We will then fundraise for each hospital individually to purchase spares and/or replacement equipment.
