We are very happy to announce that Copperbelt Energy Corporation PLC (CEC) has come on board to help fund the Nayamaba School water project! Nayamba is a wonderful community school in rural Chisamba but for several years they have struggled with access to clean water.
Following assistance from our geology and hydrology geeks (from GeoQuest and RidgePoint Geoconsult) in locating and pinpointing a good well site, the school went ahead and drilled a borehole down to 70 metres and secured an excellent source of clean water for the community! This was no mean feat considering 4 boreholes had been drilled in the past with no success.
After this major milestone was successfully reached in November 2020, we began to reach out to possible funding partners to raise a total of $4,400 to implement the project and purchase a solar pump and related infrastructure.
Very quickly, Copperbelt Energy Corporation PLC agreed to come on board and make a donation to Mission Geeks to cover this cost! The equipment is being purchased and is expected to be installed by the end of January 2021.
Thank you CEC for your support, and thank you too from the hundreds of people in the Nayamba community who will benefit from clean drinking water! We look forward to visiting the completed project soon to report back on the positive impact this project has had in this rural area.
