A new project partner for Mission Geeks, Umutima Foundation, approached us back in April to see if we could help them solve their water problems.
Umutima Foundation is a Christian ministry based in Mkushi, providing an orphan feeding program for children from Mkushi township. They are also in the final stages of building a brand new primary school. With the increasingly diminishing electricity from the national grid and their expanding needs for water and electricity, Umutima requested our help in designing and installing a new water system that includes a new borehole pump, solar panels and larger water storage tanks.
Mission Geeks have been project-managing this upgrade and have also been able to research and recommend an appropriate pump system which enables them to switch power between the solar source and national grid. This project is well underway and we anticipate it will be completed by the end of the year!
