Having completed the renovation stage of the Nkolonga Rural Health Project, we immediately began fund-raising to install a back-up solar lighting system. Backup lighting is absolutely critical, both for security (flood lighting) and for interior lighting so that the clinic team are still able to attend to patients during a power cut at night. We are so thankful to Mike O’Connell and the team at Isosceles Finance in the UK for their incredibly generous donation towards this project!
We reached out to Switch ACDC, a leading solar supplier in Zambia and they immediately jumped on board to help, supplying the necessary equipment within budget as well as donating three second-hand solar panels! Alphas from Switch ACDC traveled to Mkushi and completed the install last week! It was a wonderful moment to see the whole clinic lit up while completely off-grid!
Now that Stage 2 is complete we will be focussing on Stage 3: Safe running water!
